We usually play Sunday at Jose Marti Park

Facebook to see where we're playing

Hello and welcome!! Miami Bike Polo came together in March of 2011 with the intent to make it easy for anyone interested in playing bike polo. It has really taken off and we can't be more excited. We are still working very hard to keep you informed and organized plus we've made a bunch of loaner mallets so all you need to do is show up with your bike. We play weekly games that we organize at Jose Marti Park, Sundays around 2pm. It's also a great way to just hangout with fellow bike riders and unwind.

So for now, check out our website, learn about the game, make yourself a mallet if you want and we hope to see you on the court and having a blast! And if you've never played before, no worries, we still have a lot of new and first time players, so we'll have beginner games going every time we play.

If you'd like to stay in the loop, 'Like' us on Facebook or follow us on twitter. If you'd like to be involved, just let us know! Start a discussion on our forum, post on our wall, tweet your thoughts, etc… we welcome and encourage any participation :) THANK YOU and see you all soon!!

Deco Drive Features Miami Bike Polo

When you think of the game of polo, places like west Palm Beach and England come to mind but some Miami riders are peddling a different kind of game. Deco found out it's a schwinn schwinn for everyone.

Polo. The sport of kings the game is synonymous with wealth and privilege but thanks to a group of Miami sportsmen, you don't have to drive a bentley or have the wing of a hospital named after you to play it these guys are ditching the polo pony, and saddling up on two wheels.

Far from the fields of Palm Beach, these gear heads are having a ball right here in Miami.

The Miami Herald: Bike Polo Takes Off at Jose Marti Park

A new league merges bicyclists with polo ‘mallets,’ looking to grow biking solidarity in the community

Every weekend, 20 or so bicyclists gather under I-95 at José Martí Park in downtown Miami.

They line up on opposite sides of the basketball court, men and women in their 20s, 30s and 40s, who ride to the park from as far away as Hialeah and as close as Brickell. There’s a guy on a racing bike, a woman on a mountain bike, even a kid’s bike makes its way in.

Starting time is 7 p.m. Fridays, but like many things in Miami, it’s closer to 7:15 before everyone finds their place. They take their places on the edge of the court, leaning forward on their bikes, like they’re ready to lunge on wheels.

The call goes out: “Three! Two! One! Polo!”

And so begins Miami Bike Polo, a 3-month-old league that is catching on in the cycling community. Players pedal to the center of the court to try to steal a dirt-striped orange ball a little bigger than a tennis ball. The mission: Score a goal in the pee-wee soccer net on the opposite side, using a mallet made out of a ski pole welded to a six-inch PVC ABS pipe...

Miami Bike Polo on WLRN 93.1 NPR

This morning on NPR, WLRN 93.1 Miami Herald News, a story aired featuring Miami Bike Polo. Thanks to Haley White for doing this story. And even though it didn't make the story, a special thanks to Andrew Feher aka The Enforcer, Co-Founder of Miami Bike Polo. MBP wouldn't be without him.

Bike Polo on a Roll in South Florida
"Every Friday and Sunday, twenty or so people gather under I-95 at Jose Marti park in Miami and play polo on bicycles. WLRN-Miami Herald reporter Haley White joined the bicycle polo players last weekend. She learned how a funny-looking game played with mallets made out of ski poles has become a community-building force that supports a social movement."
